Fashion and the design of it is a centuries old craft of discovery.
Technology is equally a centuries old craft of discovery.
Because human psychology and history dictate we seek out the most efficient and easily replicable methods, mergers of these two crafts would eventually happen.
When humans began improving the micro-processor, we began to discovery ways of integrating it with fashion because of our desire to progress (technology).
With the inception of design, we can give fashion and its accompanying technology some utilitarian sense if so desired, beyond purely aesthetics; giving rise to a totally new sector of design: Wearable Technologies and Electronic Textiles.
Further additions of other crafts such as performing art and dance can bring about additional hybrid possibilities yet seen in the past that will also eventually become it’s own sector of design.
This last sector of design has only recently begun and can be seen at times in music/dance performances, the majority coming from Japan, South Korea and Taiwan (JPOP, KPOP, MandoPOP).
As this sector of design grows, so will the demand for newer, more modern Wearable Technologies and e-Textiles, to be integrated into everyday clothing.
This final sector of design I hope to explore and discover for myself and help shape as it further evolves.
